The Mazatlan City Guide believes that they're missing a very enjoyable experience!

Located on Avenida Deportes on the east side of the lagoon -- just across the street from the Estadio Teodoro Mariscal (our baseball stadium) -- the Parque Bosque de la Ciudad is not usually considered a Mazatlan tourist attractions, but this lovely urban park is a delightful tree-shaded oasis right in the heart of the city.

This city park as a number of play facilities for children.

The Mazatlan city park is a cool shaded refuge from the sun, perfect for family picnics and kids play-breaks and should be considered one of the best Mazatlan tourist attractions, especially on a hot day!

In 2014 the city of Mazatlan announced plans to radically renovate and expand Bosque de la Ciudad. The plan called for the addition of 12 hectares to the existing 18 hectare park, as well as the construction of numerous amenities such as a museum and walkways that will link the museum to the aquarium and aviary.

In June 2015 the overall plan was announced, and it is spectacular!

Bosque de la Ciudad will be re-named Mazatlan Parque Central, and will be designed to be a bridge between the Centro Historico and the Golden Zone and tourist areas further north, and to provide easy pedestrian access from the Malecon to Estero del Camaron, the estuary within Bosque de la Ciudad.

At the heart of this massive re-design will be the new Museo de Mazatlan. This over 200,000 square foot museum will be circular -- like a pearl -- a reflection of Mazatlan's nickname as the Pearl of the Pacific.

The amenities that will be provided by the new museum are difficult to even begin to list!

The new Mazatlan Museum will feature an IMAX theater; over 30,000 square feet of permanent exhibition space; a store devoted to Sinaloan artisanal crafts; a bookstore focused on the history of Sinaloa and Northwest Mexico; second-floor restaurants; and a massive second-floor terrace overlooking the Sea of Cortez.

The concept and design of this spectacular renovation of the park is a colaboration between Siete Colores Ideas Interactivas and acclaimed architect Fernando Romero -- who designed Carlos Slim's Soumaya Museum in Mexico City and is also presently designing the new Mexico City airport!
