Lake El Salto Satellite PhotoDownload free map and directions for day trip to Lake El Salto, Sinaloa, MexicoFor some people a visit to Lake El Salto is a day trip. For Bass fishermen it is usually more like a pilgrimage.

Lake El Salto is a scenic watershed and Bass fishing paradise located in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains that was formed by the damming of the Elota River in 1986 to ensure water supplies for agriculture. Enlightened water management has led to Lake El Salto becoming arguably the finest Bass habitat in the world.

Covering over 25,000 acres during the rainy season, Lake El Salto is less than 80 miles from Mazatlan; about 20 miles inland from the coast and approximately 550 feet above sea level. The water at Lake El Salto is crystal clear.

The lake has a maximum depth of about 140 feet and averages over 80 degrees Fahrenheit, simply one of the best Bass habitats you'll ever find.

Lake El Salto Lsrgemouth BassOriginally stocked with Largemouth Florida Bass, the consistently warm water, wealth of nutrients and plentiful shad and untilapia to feed on has enabled Lake El Salto to produce the very big and very agressive Bass that have made El Salto bass fishing world famous.

Lake El Salto is one of the most consistently top rated Bass fishing lakes in the world, and one of the most popular fishing destinations for anglers, worldwide.

But Lake El Salto is about more than just Bass fishing. The area offers good hiking, dove hunting and -- as befits such lush terrain -- outstanding bird watching!
